Mythbusters’ Adam Savage Discovers Truth Cooler Than Fiction In New Web Series About GE

After years of unraveling mysteries on “Mythbusters,” Adam Savage has become a master at separating tall tales from truth. Now he’s turning his sharp eye on GE facilities for the new web series “GE in the Wild”— and discovering technology so advanced it’s practically indistinguishable from magic.

In the series, Savage and co-host Alie Ward of “Innovation Nation” go deep into GE’s labs to show viewers the extent of what’s possible in industrial technology. The first episode features a trip to an additive manufacturing facility in Greenville, South Carolina, where engineers use 3D printer lasers to transform metal powder into gas turbine parts that are next to impossible to build by traditional machining techniques. Subsequent episodes will highlight other transformative technologies in the healthcare, transportation and aviation industries — including the world’s largest jet engine, the GE9X, which the hosts got to watch in action during a test.

Though Savage explored many of GE’s technical marvels, these site visits didn’t satisfy his curiosity completely. “I could have spent another week at every single location,” he says.

The first video goes live on GE’s YouTube page this Friday, with new episodes launching each week.
